The finalists of SCM Academy The organisers of SCM Academy are proud to announce the names of authors who have qualified for the final round held on the first day of Logistikaseminar 2010. The finalists are (in alphabetical order): 1. Einar Eiland – Supply chain competitiveness through market development phases in apiculture 2. Fjodor Krainikov – Implementation of EDI in Stoneridge Electronics AS 3. Malle Seppor – The green future of transport and logistics 4. Tõnis Viiroja – Fixed or floating? A transaction cost economics perspective to contracting ocean freight 5. Lissi Õispuu – The survey of applications of reverse logistics in Estonia You can download the essays in pdf-format from here. The essays accepted to the competition were evaluated by program committee of supply chain specialists. The committee evaluated the essays by 4 criteria: originality, integrity, quality of reasoning and general style.In the final round of the competition, the committee will be evaluating the quality of the presentations. Additionally, audience members are also asked to assess the quality of presentations. The winner of the competition is finally being calculated considering those three components: committee points for paper (40%), committee points for presentation (30%), the opinion of general audience (30%). The 1st SCM Academy essay contest is brought to life in cooperation between PROLOG (The Estonian Purchasing and Supply Chain Management Association), University of Applied Sciences of Tallinn and doctoral students and personnel of the Tallinn´s University of Technology. The conference of best essays will take place on 24.03.2010 on the “Baltic Queen” ship in Tallinn Harbor during Logistics Seminar 2010. The best paper will be awarded with the PROLOG best essay award and 5 best writers get free access to the full program of Logistics Seminar 2010. The PROLOG best essay award is meant to honor papers that have an academic value as well as practical relevance. All the essays participating in the SCM Academy contest will be published in a digital compendium. Essays are invited to SCM Academy contest dealing with, but not limited to, the following topics: • supply chain management • business logistics management • purchasing management • risk management in supply chain • partnership in supply chain • supply chain costs analysis and optimization • lead time management • quality management • logistics information systems • inventory management • warehouse management • reverse logistics • green logistics • customs management • road transport • railway transport • sea freight • air freight • intermodal transport • transit • transport policy • public transport • traffic systems
The range of topics is quite wide, but the list is only so long to show the various aspects under the supply chain management headline.
Lenght of the essay should be 2 - 4 pages, with additional title page and references maximum 8 pages.
In the launching year of SCM Academy we are finding it essential to get topics from all over the field of supply chain management to stem wide interest among students from different curricula.
